Dua of Hazrat Ameer ul Mumineen Hazrat ‘Umar 

[Faarooq-e-A’zam]

  [Radiyal Lahu
‘Anhu] used to supplicate to Allaah [Subhaanuhu Wa Ta’aalaa]……
‘Allaahummar zuqnee  shahaadatan fee sabeelika waj’al  mautee fee Baladi Rasuulik’
O Allaah, grant me martyrdom in Your path and in the City of Your Beloved , Madinah.
His supplication was accepted and he was martyred whilst reading salaah, in the Mosque of the Messenger
[Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam], in Madinah.
The
aim is to emphasize to you what a great status and blessing martyrdom
is. Such great personalities desired and supplicated to attain
martyrdom. Those who drink the nectar of martyrdom, in the path of
Allaah Kareem, don’t feel any discomfort at the moment of attaining
martyrdom. The effect of the spear, sword or bullet does not cause any
discomfort to the martyr.
